Software Development

At Harinya, there are many tools used as the development environment integrated with each other as per the technology and project requirements. Most of our development is being done on the Microsoft related tools and technologies as below.

Visual Studio 2010

Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 is a complete set of development tools for building ASP.NET Web applications, XML Web services, desktop applications, and mobile applications. Visual Basic, Visual C++, Visual C#, and Visual J# all use the same integrated development environment (IDE), which allows sharing tools and facilitates in the creation of mixed-language solutions. Visual Studio 2010 is an integrated environment that simplifies creating, debugging and deploying applications. Unleash our creativity and bring our vision to life with powerful design surfaces and innovative collaboration methods for developers and designers. Work within a personalized environment, targeting a growing number of platforms, including Microsoft SharePoint and cloud applications and accelerate the coding process by using our existing skills. Integrated support for Test-First Development and new debugging tools let us find and fix bugs quickly and easily to ensure high quality solutions.

Visual Studio Team Foundation Server 2010

Microsoft Visual Studio Team Foundation Server 2010 is the collaboration platform at the core of Microsoft’s application lifecycle management solution. Team Foundation Server 2010 automates the software delivery process and enables organizations to manage software development projects throughout the IT life cycle. Team Foundation Server 2010 enables everyone on the team to collaborate more effectively, be more agile and deliver better quality software while building and sharing institutional knowledge. Project artifacts and data from work item tracking, source control, builds, and testing tools are stored in a data warehouse and powerful reporting and dashboards provide historical trending, full traceability and realtime visibility into quality and progress against business intent.

Internet Information Server (IIS)

IIS (Internet Information Server) is a group of Internet servers (including a Web or Hypertext Transfer Protocol server and a File Transfer Protocol server) with additional capabilities for Microsoft's Windows NT and Windows 2000 Server operating systems. IIS is Microsoft's entry to compete in the Internet server market that is also addressed by Apache, Sun Microsystems, O'Reilly, and others. With IIS, Microsoft includes a set of programs for building and administering Web sites, a search engine, and support for writing Web-based applications that access databases. Microsoft points out that IIS is tightly integrated with the Windows NT and 2000 Servers in a number of ways, resulting in faster Web page serving.

Visual Source Safe (VSS)

Visual SourceSafe (VSS) is a client/server application which acts as a storage system for files. A file stored in a VSS server is not available via the standard file system, instead, it must be accessed through the VSS client tools - the VSS windows client, the VSS command-line tool, or else some application which integrates with or emulates these client tools. VSS also acts as a configuration management tool. It is a virtual library of computer files. Users can read any of the files in the library at any time, but in order to change them, they must first check the file out. They are then allowed to modify the file and finally check it back in. Only after they check the file in are their changes made available to other users.

SubVersion (SVN)

Subversion is a free/open-source version control system. That is, Subversion manages files and directories, and the changes made to them, over time. This allows recovering older versions of data, or examining the history of how the data changed. Subversion can operate across networks, which allows it to be used by people on different computers. At some level, the ability for various people to modify and manage the same set of data from their respective locations fosters collaboration.

Windows XP

Windows XP is the next version of Microsoft Windows beyond Windows 2000 and Windows Millennium Edition. Windows XP brings the convergence of Windows operating systems by integrating the strengths of Windows 2000—standards-based security, manageability, and reliability with the best features of Windows 98 and Windows Millennium Edition—Plug and Play, easy-to-use user interface, and innovative support services to create the best Windows yet. Windows XP is built on an enhanced Windows 2000 code base, with different versions aimed at home users and business users: Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP Professional.

Windows Vista

When Windows XP debuted in 2001, Microsoft offered just two versions of the OS: Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP Professional Edition. It was a pretty simple task choosing which OS was right for us, most hardware enthusiasts opted for Win XP Pro due to its better security and multi-processor support (among other features), but over time Microsoft introduced additional versions of Windows XP – for tablet PC users Microsoft offered Windows XP Tablet PC Edition, while for home theatre PC users, Windows Media Centre Edition was highly popular. Most recently, Microsoft introduced Windows XP x64 Edition for 64-bit users, but this OS has been slow to take off thanks to the dearth of 64-bit software and drivers in the consumer space. For the launch of Windows Vista, Microsoft has developed 6 variants of the OS: Windows Vista Starter, Vista Home Basic, Vista Home Premium, Windows Vista Business, Windows Vista Enterprise, and Windows Vista Ultimate. Each of these versions is available in both 32-bit and 64-bit flavours, and each supports a wide range of features.

Windows Advanced Server

Windows Server is the most advanced Windows Server operating system yet, designed to power the next-generation of networks, applications, and Web services. With Windows Server we can develop, deliver, and manage rich user experiences and applications, provide a highly secure network infrastructure, and increase technological efficiency and value within the organization. Windows Server builds on the success and strengths of its Windows Server predecessors while delivering valuable new functionality and powerful improvements to the base operating system. New Web tools, virtualization technologies, security enhancements, and management utilities help save time, reduce costs, and provide a solid foundation for our information technology (IT) infrastructure.
